Led by Chris Jones, a highly credentialed instructor with years of competitive shooting success and a passion for teaching, we specialize in creating a patient, judgment-free environment where learning thrives. About Chris

Chris Jones, the lead instructor at Amherst Firearms Academy, LLC, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for teaching to every class. As an avid recreational shooter and accomplished competitive marksman, Chris has earned over 30 first-place finishes in Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) matches and over 50 perfect score patches. He is also a multi-medalist in the State Games of America and the Commonwealth Games, demonstrating his precision and dedication to the sport.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Chris holds certifications as both an NRA Pistol Instructor and a USCCA Instructor, specializing in areas like Concealed Carry & Home Defense, Emergency First Aid, USCCA Defensive Pistol Program, and Children’s Firearms & Safety. With over 25 years of experience as a concealed carrier, Chris offers practical, real-world insights to help students feel confident and prepared.

Chris is particularly passionate about working with beginners and those who feel anxious around firearms. His patient, understanding approach ensures that every student feels supported as they develop their skills. A strong advocate for community safety, Chris also dedicates his time to teaching children and families about firearm safety, aiming to prevent accidents and promote responsible ownership.

Through his expertise, approachable teaching style, and commitment to safety, Chris helps every student at Amherst Firearms Academy gain the knowledge and confidence they need to handle firearms responsibly.
